President and CEO Elizabeth Houde, President and CEO, joined AzSAN in July 2006. Formerly
she was the CEO of the Institute of Cultural Affairs with corporate offices in
Phoenix and Chicago. Ms. Houde has more than 25 years in senior nonprofit
management, has managed up to $32 million annually and over 200 staff. The
majority of her work has been international: Russia, Central Asia, Ukraine,
Bosnia, Africa, and Latin-South America with emphasis on community development,
micro finance and micro credit, women's programs, business incubators, health
and HIV/AIDS, conflict resolution, and civil society work. She was the Chief of
Party for a $5 million dollar USAID program in Russia for women and family
health. This program, managed by Deloitte & Touche, opened the first women's
western clinic, provided education on sexual abuse and STDs, distributed condoms
and birth control, and provided Russian market introduction for U.S.
pharmaceutical companies such as Johnson and Johnson, Upjohn, and Proctor and
Gamble. She was also the Central Asian Regional Director for Mercy Corps
International, providing the collaborative effort to operate programs across
five diverse borders.
